ADDING POLISH TO EVERY PRESENTATION.
With a background in publishing, entertainment, and advertising, I love helping new work debut to the world.
I've served as a copy editor, copywriter, and film programmer in the realms of book publishing, the arts, and entertainment/luxury advertising. Working for organizations such as the Paley Center for Media, IFP, RiverRun Film Festival, Penguin Random House, Library of America, 20th Century Fox, Team One, and Trailer Park has given me a wide view of the modern cultural landscape. I'm excited by the process of uncovering new experiences through writing, as well as finding the perfect phrase to evoke an image or emotion.
Originally from North Carolina, I've sojourned in New York, Santa Barbara, and now Los Angeles. I majored in film studies at Yale and received my master's in film and media from UCSB. Recently, I was a fellow in the Los Angeles Review of Books Publishing Workshop at USC, where I developed an event concept that applies a film festival model to showcasing new works of literature to agents and publishers.
Some favorite touchstones and topics: Roger & Me, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Neuromancer, Blade Runner, The Windup Girl, Whiplash, There There, Milkman, Barbara Ehrenreich, Robert Frank, the Southern Gothic, and the 21st-century distribution revolution in film, TV, and books.
